Antonino Cannata graduated cum laude in Classical Archaeology (School of Specialisation of Catania) with a Master's Degree in Ceramiche a pareti sottili ed altre produzioni fini da alcuni contesti siracusani. His research has focused on the transformation that occurred in the countryside of South-Eastern Sicily between the Hellenistic and late antiquity periods. For several years he worked for IBAM-CNR, focusing on the material culture of the Roman age. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and monographs concerning urban archaeology, landscape archaeology, material culture and networks between the Roman Republic and the Middle Ages. From 2017, he has been the director of the Sicilian research centre Aditus in Rupe. He initiated and edited the book Hyblaea: Studi di archeologia e topografia dell’altopiano ibleo.
