Alessandra Castorina holds a PhD from the University of Rome La Sapienza and specialises in classical archaeology, the history of archaeological research, and preventive archaeology. In 2005, she won a competition for the position of Technical Director Archaeologist at the Department of Cultural Heritage and Activities. She has directed numerous excavations in the provinces of Enna and Syracuse and is currently responsible for archaeological matters in northern Syracuse. She has published widely, taught at Italian universities, and coordinates research projects with the University of Catania, the Scuola Superiore Meridionale, and the University of Tuscia.
