Excavations at Wyndyke Furlong were undertaken inadvance of business park development on the site ofthe old Ashville Trading Estate, Abingdon. The workwas funded by the Standard Life Assurance Company and revealed the substantial remains of a middle Iron Age settlement and early Roman field-system and droveway. The Iron Age settlement is the northern continuation of the middle Iron Age settlement excavated at Ashville by Parrington in the 1,970s (Parrington 1978) and is the latest in a long series of investigations into the Iron Age landscape to the west of Abingdon.
